Background Practice #1:
Wanna Be (Kinda) Like Moebius
Ahh, backgrounds. Truly the bane of my artistic existence...Well, besides colors and perspective and anatomy. Y'know what, you get my point! I struggle with making backgrounds. I have to exert so much more effort mentally and like artistically to make something that is something I like! You have to take account that it looks good with the foreground character but also not too overbearing, but also not too bland as a background can help make or break an illustration! Ahhh! It's so overwhelming, that's why I simply resort to plain or gradient backgrounds!
I've been studying Moebius and other artists like DeathBurger, Plastic Pen, and Jake Wyatt, and I am looking for reasons why their backgrounds look so good. I've been mentally taking note on what I like and what I don't like, why also making it seem more like me. Anyway, enough with me blabbering. So here is my first set of backgrounds! Enjoy!
So there's that! Hopefully that wasn't too underwhelming! Okay, enough self-deprecation. I have learned a lot from making this, and I'll probably make this into a series of some sort. Anyway, have a good day!
