Retro Series:
80s Edition
It has been a couple of weeks since I finished the 70s illustrations for my Retro Series. To serve as a follow-up to my 70s illustrations, I think it's fitting to do it chronologically. However, this era was a bit troublesome for me as I was quite overwhelmed on which direction to make: should I go with loud neons (ex: cyberpunk), or simple and fresh (ex: tropical)? It doesn't help that they're both contrasting each other in terms of aesthetic. But, I managed to make a workaround as I noticed two things: they're either heavily airbrushed or boast simple gradients. So, that's the direction I'm going for!

The Retro Series will be exploring 4 styles (as of writing this) inspired by the different eras. Each era will have 3 main illustrations, following the "row" in Instagram (btw you can check out my Instagram account, @Qugmo, it's where I post my illustrations first!). So, here's the 80s!

As I was making this, I was really into The Quarry, so I wanted the character to have a "summer camper" vibe to it.

To be frank, this isn't my favorite series yet as I think I could've incorporated the 80s much better. But hey, this is a learning process and I am still proud of what I accomplished. So, get ready we're going to the 90s (or maybe a different series? hmmm)! ⭐️
